GENERAL MILITARY COURSE (GMC) PROGRAM - Freshman and Sophomore Students

NON-SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS

Freshman and sophomore students not on scholarship may participate in the AFROTC program commitment free for up to two years. Try out the program and see if the Air Force is the right fit for you.

SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (HSSP) RECIPIENTS

Freshman HSSP recipients may try out the AFROTC program commitment-free for their entire first year.  One their second year starts, their commitment to the USAF stands.

IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (ICSP) RECIPIENTS

Students who accept an ICSP scholarship are committing to serving in the USAF and commissioning after completing the AFROTC program and their Bachelors degree.

PROFESSIONAL OFFICER COURSE (POC) PROGRAM - Junior and Senior Students

Upon entry into the POC all cadets contract into the AFROTC program and commit to serving in the USAF and commissioning after completing the AFROTC program and their Bachelors degree.

COMMISSION

After completing all Air Force ROTC and academic degree requirements, AFROTC cadets accept a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, appointed by the President of the United States.

SERVICE COMMITMENT

The length of your initial service commitment depends on your career. Most Air Force ROTC graduates incur a four-year, active duty service commitment. Pilots and other rated (flying) career fields incur a longer active duty service commitment.

UF AFROTC Cadets take ROTC classes in addition to their degree curriculum.
